Privacy Policy

Remaining Time ("the Service") is a personal dashboard that shows how much of your day, year, and life remains, with a Pomodoro timer and a daily task list. This page explains what information the Service collects and how it is used.

Information we collect

• Account information. Your email address, and — if you register with a password — your password, which is stored only as a securely hashed value (bcrypt). The plain password is never stored.
• Google account information (only if you choose "Sign in with Google"). Your Google account identifier, email address, and display name, received from Google to create and identify your account.
• X account information (only if you choose "Continue with X"). Your X account identifier and display name. X does not provide your email address.
• Your app data. The settings you enter (Pomodoro duration, age, target lifespan). For accounts that use the task and time-log features, the tasks, time records and categories you enter.
• Session cookie. A cookie that keeps you signed in. It is technically necessary and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
• Visitor cookie. A random identifier (rt_vid) used only to count unique visitors to the top page. It contains no personal information.
• Access log. When the top page is opened we record the IP address, the date and time, the browser's user-agent string and, if you are signed in, your account. This is used to understand usage and to detect abuse, is visible only to the site administrator, and is deleted automatically after 30 days.
• Theme preference. If you choose a light or dark theme, the choice is stored in your browser only (local storage) and is never sent to the server.

How we use your information

Your information is used solely to operate the Service: to authenticate you and to store and display your own settings and tasks. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the Service.

How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties, except:

• Google — only if you use Google sign-in, and only to authenticate you. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• X — only if you use X sign-in, and only to authenticate you.
• Google Calendar — only if you connect it. Your planned tasks and time records (title, category, client, note, times) are written to a separate "Remaining Time" calendar in your Google account. Nothing is read from your other calendars. You can disconnect at any time.
• Where required by law.

Storage and security

Your data is stored in a database on the server that hosts the Service. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, connections are served over HTTPS, and session cookies are HTTP-only. No security measure is perfect, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

Data retention and deletion

Access-log entries (IP addresses) are deleted automatically after 30 days. Your account, settings, tasks and time records are kept until you ask for them to be deleted. Database backups are kept for up to 14 days. To delete your account and associated data, contact us using the details below.

Children

The Service is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age required by their local law to consent to online services.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
